Why PurpleAir is valuable but easy to overbuy for hub control

Ring Fire Watch belongs in the alert layer, not the detector layer
Ring Fire Watch deserves attention because it is a rare named wildfire feature from a mainstream smart-home camera brand. The feature connects Ring cameras with Watch Duty reports: Ring says Fire Watch activates when Watch Duty reports a known fire within a Search Area and when eligible outdoor camera conditions apply.[2] Amazon’s launch announcement describes the collaboration with Watch Duty and places the 2026 rollout on a spring timeline after the January 6 announcement.[1]
The limitation is not hidden, and it should stay attached to every buying decision: Ring says Fire Watch is not an early alert system.[2] It can help surface and route information around a known Watch Duty fire; it should not be bought as a standalone device that discovers a wildfire before public alert systems or trained observers do.
