That distinction matters if your home already has Matter devices, Thread bulbs or sensors, SmartThings routines, and maybe an Aeotec hub sitting in a closet doing the boring radio work. The S26 FE leak story is not really about whether the phone has a new color or another flat display. It is about whether anything in the dated record proves the missing hardware a smart-home buyer would actually care about: Thread, UWB, magnetic Qi2 alignment, or hub-grade radio behavior.

That is already enough to make the S26 FE more interesting as a daily controller, without inventing a cleaner number than the record supports.
SmartThings and One UI 9: interface gains, not radio proof

SamMobile reports that Samsung is improving Now Brief with SmartThings integration in One UI 9, making connected-home information more visible in the system experience rather than keeping it buried entirely inside the app.[12] If that lands cleanly on the S26 FE, it would make the phone a better place to notice household state changes and act on routines.
Samsung’s own SmartThings material supports the broader idea of Galaxy devices as control surfaces for compatible lights, appliances, sensors, and routines.[13][14] That is the grounded ecosystem context. It does not, by itself, say that the S26 FE contains the hub radios needed for every Matter, Thread, Zigbee, or Z-Wave path in a mixed home.
